Street Art | Tetris Inspired Sculptures

[ALB]

I vëmë sipër njëri-tjetrit? I ndajmë apo i fshehim ato?

Swedish artist Michael Johansson's Tetris inspired sculptures are more than just large assemblage art pieces. They include an array of used objects that already exhibit their own distinct past. Individually they are just unrelated items but, when organized and packed together they create a whole that fits in all sorts of interstitial spaces inside and out.

These artistic sculptures, just like the Tetris game, succeed because of three elements:
- the organizational skill of the artist
- the size, shape and color of the objects
- the unconventional spaces they fit in

They have a way of teaching us organizational skills we follow in our personal and public life.
- How do we see the spaces we come across everyday; especially the negative, left over and interstitial spaces?
- How do we perceive the objects that surround us; their visual, physical and emotional qualities?
- How do we arrange them? Do we make them fit? Do we stack them? Do we separate or hide them?

The sculptures shown are the artist's own organizational interpretation, his [re]action to these spaces and objects.

- What would be your [re]action towards these kind of space and objects?

If you've ever played Tetris, then you've learned the answers to the above questions by playing again and again in order to reveal what kind of player you are to win the game.
These life-sized sculptures do the same. They take the game out of the screen and into our homes, buildings and cities. Live and 3D, using objects of and in our daily lives.

In this new context, the only question to answer remains:
How does your [re]action towards both space and object determine what kind of individual, neighbor, resident are you?
